LOTUS Nights at Peanuts Night Club – Every third Monday night of the month will be LOTUS (League of Trans Unified Sisters) night at Peanuts Night Club, 7969 Santa Monica Blvd (next to the French Market restaurant). There will be free food, lots of dancing, and fun for all. 10:00 pm to 2:00 am. Cover charge is $10.

First Statewide California Transgender Leadership Summit – This event, sponsored by Equality California and the Transgender Equality Alliance and hosted by the USC LGBT Center, will be held at USC Feb. 17th thru the 19th. The goal is to build skills and share around issues of importance to the transgender community. Admission is free. To make a reservation, call 415-581-0005 or e-mail [email protected].

Trans-Unity Pride, 2006 – Start planning now to attend the local event that will take place on Fri. June 2nd, Sat. 3rd and Sun. Jun.4th. Once again, it will be at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center at 1125 N. McCadden Place, Los Angeles 90038 (one block north of Santa Monica Blvd. and one block east of Highland Ave.).  Preliminary plans are: Fri. Jun. 2nd – beauty pageant and winner’s reception (8 to 11 PM); Sat. Jun. 3rd – panel on history of local transgender community (5 to 7 PM), community awards ceremony (7 to 8:30 PM), and dance (8:30 to 11 PM); and Sun. Jun.4th – workshops (10 AM thru 5 PM), screening of movie TransAmerica and appearance of Felicity Huffman, appearance arrangements are in process (5:30 to 7 PM), and reception (7 to 7:30 PM). Admission will be free. Changing room will be provided. Last year, over 1, 000 persons attended all three days. Many more are expected this year.
